Indulge in delicious Nutella Stuffed Pancakes, perfect for a special breakfast or brunch. These fluffy pancakes are stuffed with frozen Nutella discs that create a warm, gooey center when cooked. Served with optional toppings like maple syrup or fresh strawberries, they offer a delightful chocolate-hazelnut treat that’s easy to prepare in just 25 minutes.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes (excluding freezing time)
  • Yield: 4 stuffed pancakes (serves 4)

Ingredients

Pancake Batter

  • Enough pancake batter for 6 pancakes (recommend using Krusteaz brand or your favorite mix)

Nutella Filling

  • ½ cup Nutella

Cooking

  • 1 tablespoon butter or non-stick cooking spray

Optional Toppings

  • Maple syrup
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Berry compote

Instructions

  1. Freeze Nutella Discs: The night before or at least 1 hour before cooking, line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop 1½ tablespoons of Nutella per disc onto the parchment and shape into round discs. Make 4 discs total and freeze them until solid. When ready to use, gently peel the frozen Nutella from the parchment.
  2. Prepare Pancake Batter: Make pancake batter according to package instructions, preparing enough batter for about 6 pancakes since the batter will be used for stuffing.
  3. Preheat Skillet: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter or apply non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  4. Cook Pancakes: Pour about ¼ cup of pancake batter onto the hot skillet. Quickly retrieve one Nutella disc from the freezer and place it in the center of the batter on the skillet. Spoon additional batter on top to cover the Nutella disc completely.
  5. Flip and Finish Cooking: Cook the pancake until bubbles appear around the edges and the bottom is golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Gently flip the pancake and cook for another 2 minutes until fully cooked through.
  6. Repeat: Repeat the cooking process for each Nutella stuffed pancake until all batter and Nutella discs are used.

Notes

  • Freezing the Nutella discs prevents them from melting too quickly and helps maintain a gooey center inside the pancake.
  • Use a non-stick skillet or well-greased griddle to easily flip the stuffed pancakes.
  • Optional toppings like fresh fruit or syrup can enhance the flavor but are not necessary.
  • Make sure to cover the Nutella disc completely with batter to avoid leakage during cooking.
