Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1 seedless watermelon
Instructions
- Prepare the Watermelon: Wash the outside of the watermelon thoroughly to remove any dirt or residue, then pat it dry with a clean towel.
- Cut into Manageable Pieces: Cut the watermelon in half, then cut each half into quarters to make handling easier.
- Remove the Rind and Slice: Carefully cut the watermelon flesh off the rind, then slice the watermelon into 1/2-inch thick pieces to ensure even dehydration.
- Arrange on Dehydrator Trays: Lay each watermelon piece evenly on dehydrator trays, making sure pieces do not overlap for proper airflow.
- Dehydrate the Watermelon: Set the dehydrator to 135°F (57°C) and dehydrate the watermelon for 12 to 16 hours. Check at the 12-hour mark to ensure the pieces are very thin but still pliable, adjusting time if necessary to achieve desired texture.
Notes
- Use seedless watermelon to avoid seeds during dehydration.
- Ensure watermelon slices are evenly cut for consistent drying.
- Store the finished jerky in an airtight container for up to a week.
- Dehydrator temperature and time may vary; monitor closely to prevent over-drying.
