Strawberry Kiss Cookies are soft, flavorful cookies made with a strawberry cake mix base, enriched with cream cheese and butter, and topped with a sweet strawberry ice cream cone kiss. These festive cookies are perfect for parties, holiday gatherings, or any time you crave a fruity, melt-in-your-mouth treat.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 36 cookies

Ingredients

Cookie Dough

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 1 box strawberry cake mix (15¼ ounces)
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (at room temperature)
  • 1 egg (at room temperature)

Topping

  • 36 strawberry ice cream cone kisses (unwrapped)

Instructions

  1. Beat Butter, Egg and Cream Cheese: In a large bowl, use a hand or stand mixer to beat the unsalted butter, egg, and cream cheese together until the mixture is creamy and smooth without lumps.
  2. Mix in Cake Mix: Add the strawberry cake mix to the creamy butter and cream cheese blend. Beat until just combined and no dry patches remain in the dough.
  3. Chill Dough: Cover the dough and place it in the refrigerator to chill for 30 minutes to firm up for easier handling.
  4. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the cookies.
  5. Prepare Baking Sheets: Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking and allow for even baking.
  6. Scoop and Shape Dough: Using a 1-tablespoon cookie scoop, portion out the dough into balls. Roll each ball gently between your palms to create smooth, round shapes.
  7. Coat in Powdered Sugar: Roll each dough ball in the powdered sugar until fully coated, then place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 1½ inches apart to allow for spreading.
  8. Bake Cookies: Bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes, until the edges have set but the centers are still soft.
  9. Add Strawberry Kisses: Immediately after removing the cookies from the oven, press one strawberry ice cream cone kiss on top of each cookie to embed it slightly while warm.
  10. Cool and Serve: Allow the cookies to cool completely on the baking sheets before serving or storing to ensure the kisses harden nicely and the cookies hold their shape.

Notes

  • Use room temperature butter, cream cheese, and egg for the best dough consistency.
  • Chilling the dough is important to prevent the cookies from spreading too much during baking.
  • Ensure strawberry kisses are unwrapped before pressing them on the cookies.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
