Ingredients
For the Lemon Dill Sauce
- ⅓ cup plain Greek yogurt
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh dill
- 1 tablespoon capers, minced
- 1 small garlic clove, finely minced
- 1 pinch sea salt
For the Salmon
- 4 salmon filets, 5 ounces each
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 8 thin lemon slices
Instructions
- Make Sauce: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, fresh lemon juice, minced dill, minced capers, finely minced garlic, and a pinch of sea salt. Mix well until smooth. Cover and place the sauce in the refrigerator to chill while preparing the salmon.
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (204 degrees Celsius) and allow it to fully preheat to ensure even cooking.
- Season Salmon: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lay out the salmon filets skin-side down on the sheet. Sprinkle each filet evenly with sea salt and black pepper. Drizzle the olive oil over the salmon pieces, then top each filet with two thin lemon slices for added flavor and moisture.
- Bake Salmon: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the salmon for 8 to 10 minutes. Check for doneness by ensuring the salmon is slightly opaque and reaches an internal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius) using a food thermometer. Be careful not to overcook, as it will become dry.
- Serve: Remove the salmon from the oven. Plate each filet and spoon the chilled lemon dill sauce generously over the top. Serve immediately for a fresh and delicious meal.
Notes
- Use fresh dill for the best flavor, but dried dill can be substituted at one-third the amount.
- Capers add a nice briny tang; if unavailable, replace with chopped green olives or omit.
- Cooking times may vary based on salmon thickness—always check for an internal temp of 140°F.
- To make it gluten-free, ensure mayonnaise and other condiments are certified gluten-free.
