Discover the exquisite flavors and health benefits of Saffron Tea with three delightful variations: Mixed Spices, Ginger Cinnamon, and Lemon Mint. This aromatic tea combines the delicate taste of saffron with white tea and complementary spices or herbs, creating a soothing and flavorful beverage perfect for any time of day.

  • Total Time: 14 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 1/4 teaspoon saffron
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons white tea
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons honey (adjust per taste)

Mixed Spices Flavor

  • 3 green cardamom pods
  • 3 inch cinnamon stick
  • 2 tablespoons dried rose petals (culinary grade)

Ginger Cinnamon Flavor

  • 2 cinnamon sticks (3 inches each)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger slices

Lemon Mint Flavor

  • 3 lemon slices (organic)
  • 8 fresh mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Preliminary Steps: Take 1/4 teaspoon dry saffron threads and place them in a small marble or stone mortar and pestle. Add a pinch of sugar and grind the saffron into a fine powder, which will help release its aroma and color more effectively.
  2. Boil Water and Brew Tea: In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 2 teaspoons of white tea to the boiling water and allow it to steep briefly while preparing your flavor addition.
  3. Choose Flavor Option: Select one of the three flavor variations: For Mixed Spices, add green cardamom pods, a 3-inch cinnamon stick, and dried rose petals to the saucepan. For Ginger Cinnamon, add cinnamon sticks and fresh ginger slices. For Lemon Mint, add lemon slices with the skin intact and fresh mint leaves.
  4. Steep the Flavor: Allow the mixture to steep on low heat for 5 minutes to infuse the flavors into the tea base.
  5. Add Saffron and Final Steeping: Turn off the heat and add the powdered saffron to the tea. Let it steep for an additional 3 to 4 minutes. Be careful not to steep the saffron too long to avoid bitterness.
  6. Add Sweetener and Serve: Stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons of honey according to your taste preference. The tea can be enjoyed hot or chilled as iced tea after refrigeration.
  7. Garnish: Decorate your tea with extra saffron threads, a cinnamon stick, fresh ginger slices, lemon wedges, or mint leaves to enhance its visual appeal and aroma.

Notes

  • This tea can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Adjust honey quantity based on your sweetness preference.
  • Do not steep saffron for too long to prevent bitterness.
  • Use organic lemon slices to avoid pesticides and enhance flavor.
  • For a stronger saffron flavor, increase grinding time but remain cautious of bitterness.
  • All three flavor variations can be made using the same method; choose based on your taste preference.
