This Orange Chicken Sheet Pan Dinner is a quick and delicious meal that combines tender chicken tenderloins with vibrant broccoli, all baked together in a flavorful honey-orange marinade. Ready in just 30 minutes, it’s perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner that requires minimal cleanup.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Chicken and Marinade

  • 1 1/2 – 2 lb chicken tenderloins
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil (separated)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • Zest of one orange
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1-2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 inch grated ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Vegetables

  • 2-3 large broccoli crowns (about 6 cups chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F to ensure it reaches the ideal temperature for baking the chicken and broccoli evenly.
  2. Prepare Marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, orange juice, orange zest, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, crushed red pepper, sea salt, and pepper. This mixture will infuse the chicken with sweet and zesty flavors.
  3. Marinate Chicken: Place the chicken tenderloins in a medium bowl or a large ziplock bag, then pour the marinade over them. Toss or shake to coat the chicken evenly and let it absorb the flavors while you prepare the vegetables.
  4. Prepare Broccoli: Cut the stems from the broccoli crowns and break into bite-sized florets. Toss the broccoli with the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil, a dash of sea salt, garlic powder, and cracked pepper to season evenly.
  5. Arrange on Sheet Pan: Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Spread the broccoli evenly toward the edges of the pan, creating a border. Place the marinated chicken tenderloins in the center of the pan and pour any remaining marinade over the chicken. (If short on time, you can place the chicken directly on the pan and pour the marinade on top before baking.)
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the chicken achieves an internal temperature of 165°F. The broccoli will roast alongside the chicken, becoming tender and slightly caramelized.
  7. Finish and Serve: Once baked, remove the sheet pan from the oven. If there is excess liquid, gently blot or pour it off. Serve the orange chicken and broccoli with rice or your preferred side. For an extra touch, drizzle a little honey over the dish and garnish with additional crushed red pepper.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken is cooked to a safe 165°F internal temperature.
  • Adjust the amount of crushed red pepper to control the spiciness of the dish.
  • Broccoli can be substituted with other vegetables like cauliflower or green beans if preferred.
  • For gluten-free preparation, verify that all ingredients, especially honey and spices, are certified gluten-free.
  • This sheet pan meal is easily doubled or halved depending on the number of servings needed.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
