A delicious and easy-to-make Olive Cheese Bread featuring a creamy, spicy olive and cheese filling spread inside a crusty French bread loaf, then baked to golden perfection. Perfect as a flavorful appetizer or snack for gatherings.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 14 servings

Ingredients

Bread

  • 1 loaf French bread (14-inches long)

Filling

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Sriracha
  • 6 ounces sliced pimiento-stuffed green olives, drained
  • 2.25 ounces sliced black olives, drained
  • 8 ounces shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2 stalks green onions, diced

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) to prepare for baking the bread.
  2. Prepare the Bread: Slice the French bread loaf lengthwise into two halves. Carefully scoop out some of the soft bread from the inner surface to create a shallow well, leaving a sturdy border around the edges. Place both halves on a baking sheet.
  3. Mix the Filling: In a large bowl, combine mayonnaise, softened butter, and Sriracha, mixing until smooth and well blended. Stir in the sliced pimiento-stuffed green olives, black olives, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, and diced green onions until evenly incorporated.
  4. Fill the Bread: Evenly divide the prepared filling mixture between the two bread halves, spreading it into the wells created.
  5. Bake: Place the baking sheet with the filled bread halves into the preheated oven. Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and begins to brown lightly on top.
  6. Serve: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool slightly. Cut into 2-inch portions across and serve warm as a delicious appetizer or snack.

Notes

  • Use a sturdy bread like French or Italian to hold the filling without becoming soggy.
  • You can adjust the amount of Sriracha to increase or decrease spiciness.
  • Make sure to drain olives thoroughly to prevent excess moisture in the filling.
  • For a crispier crust, you can broil the bread for 1-2 minutes after baking.
  • This bread is best served warm but can be reheated in the oven as needed.
