Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Fresh Cilantro
- 2/3 Cup Sour Cream
- 1 Tbsp Onion Powder
- 2 Fresh Jalapeños
- 2 Garlic Cloves
- 1 Tbsp Lime Juice
- 1 Tsp Honey (or to taste to offset the heat)
- 1/4 Tsp Salt
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Wash the fresh cilantro and jalapeños thoroughly. Peel the garlic cloves to ensure they blend smoothly into the sauce.
- Combine in Food Processor: Add the fresh cilantro, sour cream, onion powder, jalapeños, garlic cloves, lime juice, honey, and salt into a food processor or blender.
- Puree the Mixture: Blend all ingredients until the sauce reaches a smooth and creamy consistency, ensuring the jalapeños are finely incorporated for even heat distribution.
- Chill and Marinate: Transfer the crema to a container and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. This resting time allows the flavors to meld and intensify. Although it can be used immediately, chilling improves the depth of flavor significantly.
Notes
- You can adjust the number of jalapeños to control the spiciness according to your preference.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute sour cream with a plant-based alternative like coconut yogurt.
- Adding honey helps balance the heat but can be omitted or substituted with agave syrup for a vegan option.
- This crema pairs beautifully with Mexican dishes such as tacos, grilled chicken, or roasted vegetables.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
