A nutritious and easy-to-make Instant Pot beef stew designed specifically for dogs, featuring wholesome ingredients like beef, sweet potato, green beans, peas, blueberries, rice, and oats. This hearty stew provides balanced nutrition and is perfect as a mix-in with your dog’s regular kibble.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 6-8 servings (depends on portion size)

Ingredients

Liquids

  • 2½ cups water

Meat

  • 2-2½ pounds sirloin, chuck roast, or ground beef

Grains

  • 1 cup white or light brown rice*
  • ¼ cup rolled oats

Vegetables & Fruits

  • 2 cups sweet potato, peeled and chopped
  • 2 cups green beans
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 2 cups blueberries

Instructions

  1. Add Ingredients: Pour 2½ cups of water into the Instant Pot insert, then add all remaining ingredients in the order listed, starting with the beef at the bottom.
  2. Seal and Cook: Lock the lid in place ensuring the sealing knob is turned to sealing. Set the Instant Pot to cook on High Pressure for 10 minutes.
  3. Pressure Release: Allow the pressure to release naturally once cooking is complete, ensuring the stew finishes cooking gently.
  4. Stir and Combine: Remove the lid carefully and stir all ingredients until well combined to create a hearty, evenly mixed stew.
  5. Store: Store the stew in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For longer storage, transfer to freezer-safe containers and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
  6. Serving Suggestion: Mix the stew with your dog’s kibble in a 50/50 ratio (for example, ½ cup stew with ½ cup kibble) and add 1-2 tablespoons of water if needed to help combine.

Notes

  • If using regular brown rice instead of white or light brown rice, cook the stew on High Pressure for 20 minutes followed by a natural pressure release.
