A refreshing and tangy Indian cucumber raita made with creamy yogurt, diced cucumber, and a blend of aromatic spices. Perfect as a cooling side dish to balance spicy meals.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Yogurt
  • ½ cup Cucumber (finely diced)
  • ½ tsp Roasted Cumin Powder
  • ¼- ½ tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • ½ tsp Chaat Masala Powder (optional)
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp Coriander leaves (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Whisk Yogurt: Place yogurt in a bowl and whisk it until smooth. If the yogurt is thick, add ⅛-¼ cup water and whisk again to achieve the desired creamy consistency.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Add finely diced cucumber, roasted cumin powder, red chilli powder, chaat masala (if using), salt, pepper, and chopped coriander leaves to the yogurt. Mix everything well until evenly combined.
  3. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with extra coriander leaves on top. Serve the cucumber raita chilled for a refreshing accompaniment to your meal.

Notes

  • Use fresh, firm cucumbers for the best texture.
  • Adjust spice levels according to your preference.
  • Chaat masala is optional but adds a nice tangy flavor.
  • This raita pairs well with biryanis, pulao, and spicy Indian curries.
  • Keep chilled until serving to enhance flavor and refreshment.
