This easy iced latte recipe helps you make the perfect refreshing coffeehouse-style iced latte at home with just espresso, milk, ice, and optional sweetener. The recipe includes homemade simple syrup for a customizable sweetness to suit your taste.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients

Simple Syrup

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup boiling water

Iced Latte

  • 2 espresso shots
  • 3/4 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy; 2% milk preferred)
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 tbsp simple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Simple Syrup: Boil water in a kettle, then pour the boiling water over the sugar in a mason jar. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved. Allow the syrup to cool for at least 30 minutes before using to ensure it is at room temperature.
  2. Brew Espresso Shots: Using your espresso machine, prepare 2 shots of espresso. This will serve as the coffee base for your iced latte.
  3. Assemble the Iced Latte: Fill a highball glass with 1 cup of ice cubes. If you prefer a sweeter latte, add 1 tablespoon of the prepared simple syrup to the glass. Pour 1/2 cup of milk over the ice and syrup.
  4. Add Espresso and Mix: Pour the freshly brewed espresso shots over the milk and ice. Stir the mixture well to combine all the flavors and chill the latte evenly.
  5. Adjust and Serve: Taste your iced latte and adjust the sweetness by adding more simple syrup or the milk quantity based on your preference. Once you achieve your desired flavor, enjoy your homemade iced latte!

Notes

  • Use your favorite type of milk – dairy or plant-based alternatives work well.
  • You can adjust the strength of the coffee by using more or fewer espresso shots.
  • Simple syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Start with less simple syrup and milk to control sweetness and creaminess precisely.
  • For a vegan version, use non-dairy milk and ensure sugar used is vegan-friendly.
