These honey garlic chicken tenders are a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors, featuring tender chicken coated in a flavorful spice blend and glazed with a luscious honey garlic sauce. Quick to prepare and cooked in a skillet, this dish is ideal for busy weeknights yet impressive enough to serve to guests.

  • Total Time: 23 minutes
  • Yield: 7 chicken tenders

Ingredients

For The Chicken

  • 1 lb chicken tenders
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp chili powder
  • ⅛ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp onion powder

For The Sauce

  • 3 garlic cloves – minced
  • ¼ cup coconut aminos (or low sodium soy sauce)
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp butter (or oil)

Instructions

  1. Season the Chicken: Pat the chicken tenders dry using paper towels to ensure better browning. In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, paprika, chili powder, cinnamon, and onion powder. Sprinkle this spice blend evenly over all the chicken tenders, making sure each piece is thoroughly coated.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of butter or oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken tenders and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown and are cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter or add a splash of oil. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Then stir in the coconut aminos (or soy sauce), red wine vinegar, and honey. Allow the sauce to cook for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  4. Combine Chicken and Sauce: Return the cooked chicken tenders to the skillet, tossing them gently in the honey garlic sauce to coat each piece evenly. Let them simmer together for an additional 2 minutes to absorb the sauce’s flavor.
  5. Serve: Transfer the honey garlic chicken tenders to a serving plate. Optionally garnish with chopped parsley or sesame seeds for an added touch. Serve hot alongside your favorite sides.

Notes

  • You can substitute coconut aminos with low sodium soy sauce to reduce sodium content.
  • Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of honey according to your preference.
  • Use a non-stick skillet for easier cooking and cleaning.
  • Ensure chicken is cooked through by checking that internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Garnish with fresh parsley or toasted sesame seeds for added flavor and presentation.
