Ingredients
For the Dough
- 1 recipe Homemade Pizza Crust
Toppings
- 2 teaspoons olive oil (or as needed to coat baking sheet)
- 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning (divided)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Move the oven rack to the lowest position and preheat your oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it’s hot enough for a crispy crust and melted cheese.
- Prepare the Dough: Place a sheet of parchment paper on a cutting board or flat surface. Put the pizza dough in the center and sprinkle a little flour on it to prevent sticking. Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough into a 14- x 10-inch rectangle, shaping it with your hands as needed to achieve an even rectangle.
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Drizzle about 2 teaspoons of olive oil on a large rimmed baking sheet and spread it evenly with your hands. Transfer the rolled dough from the parchment paper onto the baking sheet and gently pat it back into the rectangular shape, approximately 14 x 10 inches. It should not cover the entire baking sheet.
- Add Garlic Butter and Seasoning: Mix the melted butter with minced garlic. Pour this mixture over the dough and spread it evenly using a knife or the back of a spoon. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of Italian seasoning and salt over the dough, then evenly distribute the shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top. Finally, sprinkle the remaining Italian seasoning evenly over the cheese layer.
- Bake the Breadsticks: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and turns a nice golden brown color.
- Slice and Serve: Once baked, remove the breadsticks from the oven and allow them to rest for a minute or two. Use a pizza cutter to slice the rectangle into 18 strips by cutting 6 times lengthwise and 3 times crosswise. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Make sure the oven is fully preheated to 500°F for the best crust and cheese melt.
- If you don’t have homemade pizza dough, store-bought pizza dough can be used as a convenient alternative.
- For extra garlic flavor, consider adding a bit of garlic powder on top before baking.
- You can substitute the mozzarella with a blend of cheeses if desired, such as provolone or cheddar for a different flavor profile.
- Allow the breadsticks to cool slightly before cutting to prevent cheese from sliding off.
