Ingredients
Blueberry Sauce
- 1/3 cup prepared blueberry sauce (cooled)
Main Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened to room temperature)
- 1/4 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 vanilla bean (or 1–2 teaspoons vanilla extract)
- 1 pinch kosher salt
Instructions
- Make the sauce: Prepare or use leftover blueberry sauce and set aside 1/3 cup to cool to room temperature.
- Beat butter and milk: In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the softened butter and milk on low speed just until they begin to incorporate.
- Whip until fluffy: Increase the mixer speed to medium-high and beat for about 5 minutes, scraping down the sides and bottom of the bowl a couple of times during the process. The mixture should become light and fluffy.
- Add remaining ingredients: Add the cooled blueberry sauce, maple syrup, vanilla bean seeds or extract, and a pinch of kosher salt. Beat on low speed just until everything is combined evenly.
- Enjoy or store: Use the blueberry butter immediately or refrigerate it for later use. Remember that chilling will firm up the butter.
- Soften before serving: If refrigerated, remove the blueberry butter from the fridge 20 to 30 minutes before serving to allow it to soften to a spreadable consistency.
Notes
- Using prepared or leftover blueberry sauce saves time and adds depth of flavor.
- Softened butter at room temperature is essential for easy whipping and a smooth texture.
- Scraping the bowl during whipping ensures even texture and incorporation.
- Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of maple syrup according to taste.
- Vanilla bean adds a natural vanilla flavor, but vanilla extract works well as a convenient substitute.
- Store blueberry butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
