Ingredients
Sauce
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 garlic clove, grated
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp water
- 1 tsp chili garlic sauce
Vegetables
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 large zucchini (about ¾ lb), sliced into rounds then quartered
Main
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- 1 lb ground turkey
Instructions
- Mix Sauce: In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, grated garlic, grated ginger, cornstarch, water, and chili garlic sauce. Stir well until all ingredients are integrated and set aside.
- Prep Vegetables: Dice the onion and slice the zucchini into rounds. Then cut the zucchini rounds into quarters to ensure even cooking and bite-sized pieces.
- Sauté Vegetables: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add cooking oil. Once hot, add the diced onion and chopped zucchini. Sauté for 4 to 5 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and the zucchini is lightly browned, then remove vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
- Brown Turkey: In the same skillet, add the ground turkey. Crumble the meat and cook thoroughly until browned and no longer pink, releasing the rich flavors essential for the dish.
- Combine and Sauce: Return the sautéed vegetables to the skillet with the browned turkey. Give the sauce a quick stir to recombine, then pour it over the turkey and veggies, spreading it evenly.
- Simmer: Stir everything together to coat the ingredients with the sauce. Let the mixture simmer for 2 minutes to thicken the sauce and allow the flavors to meld beautifully.
- Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Serve the dish hot, optionally garnished with sliced green onions, red pepper flakes, sesame seeds, and a side of cooked rice for a complete meal. Enjoy!
Notes
- For a spicier dish, increase the chili garlic sauce according to your heat preference.
- You can substitute ground turkey with ground chicken or lean ground beef if desired.
- Serve with steamed rice or noodles to complete the meal.
- Use a non-stick or well-seasoned skillet to prevent sticking during cooking.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in a skillet or microwave.
