Grinch Balls are festive Oreo truffles perfect for holiday celebrations. These no-bake treats feature crushed Oreos blended with cream cheese, dipped in vibrant green melting wafers, and topped with colorful sprinkles for a fun and easy-to-make sweet snack.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 24 servings

Ingredients

Truffle Mixture

  • 36 Oreo cookies
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

Coating

  • 1 1/2 cups green melting wafers
  • 1/2 to 1 tablespoon shortening or coconut oil (optional)
  • Green food dye
  • Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreos: Place the Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until they form a very fine crumb, ensuring there are no large chunks left.
  2. Mix Ingredients: Transfer the crushed Oreos to a bowl, add the softened cream cheese, and use a spatula to mix thoroughly. Continue until the mixture is uniform with no visible streaks of cream cheese.
  3. Form Balls: Using a cookie scoop or measuring spoon, portion out about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into balls with your hands. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Freeze: Put the tray of Oreo balls into the freezer for at least 20 minutes to firm up and make dipping easier.
  5. Melt Coating: Melt the green melting wafers according to package instructions. If desired, stir in 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of shortening or coconut oil for a smoother consistency and add green food dye to intensify the color.
  6. Dip Truffles: Using a fork or dipping sticks, dip each Oreo ball into the melted coating, ensuring it is fully covered. Quickly decorate with sprinkles before the coating sets.
  7. Set and Serve: Place dipped truffles back on parchment paper and allow the coating to harden completely before serving.

Notes

  • Using shortening or coconut oil in the melting wafers helps achieve a smoother, shinier coating that’s easier to dip.
  • Green food dye enhances the festive look of the coating but can be adjusted to your preference.
  • If you don’t have dipping sticks, use a plastic fork with the two middle tines removed for easy handling.
  • Freezing the Oreo balls thoroughly before dipping helps the coating adhere better and prevents melting.
