Ingredients
Brownie Base
- 1 package brownie mix
- 2 eggs (required by brownie mix)
- Olive oil (required by brownie mix)
- Water (required by brownie mix)
Decorations
- 12 Milano cookies
- Black decorating icing/gel (in a tube)
- 5 Oreo cookies (filling removed)
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the brownie mix package instructions to ensure proper baking.
- Prepare Brownie Batter: Follow the directions on the brownie mix package to prepare the batter, combining the mix with eggs, olive oil, and water as instructed.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Lightly coat an 8 x 8 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray to prevent brownies from sticking.
- Bake Brownies: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and level the surface with a spatula. Bake according to the package directions.
- Decorate Milano Cookies: While the brownies bake, use the black decorating icing or gel to write “RIP” on each Milano cookie. Set these aside to dry and set.
- Crush Oreos: Remove the filling from the Oreo cookies and place the cookie pieces into a plastic bag. Use a rolling pin to crush them into crumbs resembling dirt.
- Cool and Cut Brownies: Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting them into 12 equal rectangles (4 by 3 pieces).
- Assemble Graveyard: Insert one Milano cookie upright into the top of each brownie piece to resemble a tombstone. Spoon the crushed Oreo crumbs on top of each brownie around the cookie to simulate dirt.
Notes
- Ensure brownies are fully cooled before decorating to prevent melting of icing and crumbling.
- You can use store-bought black decorating icing or gel for convenience.
- For a more spooky effect, consider adding candy bones or other Halloween-themed edible decorations.
- Removing the Oreo filling makes the crumbs look more like dirt and keeps the texture consistent.
