These invigorating Ginger Shots combine fresh ginger root juice and lemon juice with a hint of honey and a dash of cayenne pepper for a spicy, energizing boost. Perfect as a daily health tonic, they can be made using either a juicer or a blender, delivering a potent and refreshing drink loaded with immune-supportive ingredients.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 24 servings (2 fl oz each)

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 16 oz fresh ginger root (to yield about 12 fl oz juice)
  • 6 lemons (to yield about 12 fl oz juice; adjust quantity depending on size)
  • 1 tsp honey (or agave syrup or maple syrup as alternatives)
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ginger and Lemons: Scrub and dry the ginger root thoroughly to remove any dirt or impurities. For the lemons, wash and dry them as well.
  2. Juicer Method: Juice the ginger root first using a juicer, then juice the lemons. Aim to extract equal volumes of ginger juice and lemon juice, approximately 12 fl oz each, and pour both juices into a large pitcher.
  3. Mix Ingredients: Whisk in the honey (or chosen sweetener) until it is fully dissolved, then stir in the cayenne pepper evenly throughout the mixture.
  4. Bottle and Store: Immediately transfer the ginger lemon mixture into bottles for storage. Shake well before serving as the ingredients may settle over time. Each serving size is 2 fluid ounces.
  5. Blender Method: Chop the ginger root into small pieces and combine with the lemon juice in a blender. Blend for 60–90 seconds until a pulpy mixture forms.
  6. Strain the Mixture: Pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth, pressing gently to extract as much juice as possible while removing pulp and fibers.
  7. Add Sweetener and Spices: Whisk in the honey or preferred sweetener along with the cayenne pepper into the strained juice until well combined.
  8. Bottle and Serve: Bottle the juice right away and refrigerate. Shake well before serving 2 fl oz shots for a spicy, rejuvenating boost.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness to taste by varying the amount or type of sweetener used.
  • If you prefer less heat, reduce or omit the cayenne pepper.
  • The juice is best consumed fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 5 days.
  • Always shake the bottle well before pouring to redistribute settled ingredients.
  • Sourcing organic ginger and lemons will enhance flavor and reduce pesticide exposure.
  • This recipe makes approximately 24 servings of 2 fluid ounces each.
