Ingredients
Green Beans
- 1 pound fresh green beans (washed and trimmed)
Coating Mixture
- ¾ cup Ritz crackers (crushed, or panko/breadcrumbs)
- ¼ cup parmesan cheese (grated)
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon pepper
Breading and Binding
- ½ cup flour
- 2 eggs (beaten)
Instructions
- Prepare the Coating Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the crushed Ritz crackers, grated parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and pepper. Mix well to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.
- Preheat Oven or Air Fryer: For baking, preheat your oven to 450°F. If using an air fryer, preheat it to 390°F and lightly spray the basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Prep the Green Beans: Wash and trim 1 pound of fresh green beans. Toss them with ½ cup flour in a shallow dish or bowl so they are lightly coated.
- Coat with Egg and Crumbs: Dip the floured green beans into the beaten eggs, then immediately into the cracker and parmesan crumb mixture, coating them thoroughly and evenly.
- Arrange for Cooking: For oven baking, lightly spray a baking sheet with olive oil spray or line it with parchment paper and place the coated green beans in a single layer. For air frying, place the coated green beans in a single layer inside the preheated air fryer basket.
- Cook the Green Beans: If baking, place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until the green beans are golden and crispy. For air frying, cook for 5 minutes, then toss the green beans and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes if needed to reach a crispy texture.
- Serve: Remove the cooked green beans immediately and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce for a delicious appetizer or side dish.
Notes
- You can substitute panko or plain breadcrumbs for the Ritz crackers if desired.
- Lightly spraying the baking sheet or air fryer basket helps prevent sticking and promotes even crisping.
- Adjust cooking times slightly based on your oven or air fryer model for optimal crispness.
- Dipping sauces like ranch, garlic aioli, or marinara pair well with these crispy green beans.
- For a dairy-free version, omit the parmesan cheese and use nutritional yeast or additional spices instead.
