This elevated Michelada Mix recipe combines the umami richness of white miso with fresh citrus juices and Clamato for a flavorful, tangy blend. Perfectly finished with a cold Mexican lager and a chile-lime seasoned rim, this Michelada offers a refreshing and savory beverage experience that’s easy to scale for parties.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 2 micheladas

Ingredients

Michelada Mix

  • 2 teaspoons white miso
  • 1 ounce warm water
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon adobo sauce
  • 6-8 drops hot sauce (to taste)
  • 2 ½ ounces Clamato juice
  • Sea salt (optional, to taste)

Michelada

  • 2 ½ ounces Michelada Mix (prepared above)
  • 2 bottles cold Mexican lager (12 ounce bottles each)
  • Tajín or chile-lime seasoning (for glass rim)
  • Ice cubes
  • Garnishes as desired (lime wedges, cucumber slices, celery stalk, or fresh herbs suggested)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Michelada Mix: Blend the 2 teaspoons of white miso with 1 ounce of warm water until very smooth, ensuring the miso is fully dissolved. Then add the fresh lime juice, fresh orange juice, Worcestershire sauce, adobo sauce, hot sauce drops, and Clamato juice. Blend thoroughly once more until the mixture is smooth. Strain the mix through a fine sieve to remove any pulp or solids. Taste and adjust the seasoning by adding sea salt if desired. Refrigerate the mix until ready to use.
  2. Rim the Glass: Rub a fresh lime wedge around the rim of each glass to moisten it. Dip the rim into Tajín or a chile-lime seasoning to coat evenly, providing a spicy and tangy edge to each sip.
  3. Assemble the Michelada: Fill the glass with ice cubes. Pour in 2 ½ ounces of the chilled Michelada Mix. Slowly top with a 12-ounce bottle of cold Mexican lager. Stir gently with a bar spoon to blend the flavors without losing carbonation.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Add garnishes as desired such as lime wedges, cucumber slices, celery stalks, or fresh herbs to enhance the presentation and flavor. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing Michelada!

Notes

  • Adobo sauce refers to the sauce from chipotle peppers in adobo; using this adds smoky heat. Adjust based on your spice preference.
  • Garnish suggestions include lime wedges, cucumber slices, celery stalks, or fresh herbs such as cilantro.
  • Tajín or chile-lime seasoning is used to coat the glass rim for added flavor and spice.
  • Calories listed do not include garnishes.
  • This recipe scales well for parties by multiplying the Michelada Mix and beer according to guest count.
