A quick and flavorful Easy Kimchi Pizza recipe featuring a spicy-sweet Korean-inspired tomato sauce topped with sliced kimchi and melted mozzarella cheese on a thin, crispy pizza crust. Perfect for a delicious fusion twist on a classic pizza, ready in just 25 minutes.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

For the Sauce

  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced kimchi
  • 2 teaspoons gochujang (or 1 teaspoon doubanjiang)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 can (4 oz/113 g) tomato sauce (about 3/4 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

For the Pizza

  • 1 12” (30 cm) thin pizza crust (or pizza dough)
  • 1/3 cup thinly sliced kimchi
  • 1/2 ball fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced (or 1 cup shredded mozzarella)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: Heat the sesame oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced kimchi, gochujang, and minced garlic. Cook and stir occasionally until the gochujang is lightly toasted, about 2 minutes.
  2. Simmer the Sauce: Add the tomato sauce and sugar to the saucepan. Stir well and cook until the sauce comes to a simmer. Lower the heat and let it simmer gently to thicken slightly, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and transfer the sauce to a bowl to cool slightly.
  3. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 550°F (290°C) ensuring it’s fully heated before baking the pizza.
  4. Assemble the Pizza: Place the pizza crust on a large baking sheet. Spread about 3 tablespoons of the prepared pizza sauce evenly over the crust in a thin layer. Distribute the thinly sliced kimchi evenly over the sauce, then lay down the sliced or shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  5. Bake the Pizza: Place the baking sheet in the fully preheated oven. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes or until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  6. Slice & Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven, slice it into pieces, and enjoy your spicy, cheesy Kimchi Pizza immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute gochujang with doubanjiang for a different chili paste flavor.
  • Using fresh mozzarella gives a creamy texture, but shredded mozzarella works well for convenience.
  • Make sure your oven is fully preheated to 550°F (290°C) for the best crust crispness.
  • Adjust kimchi amount to taste if you prefer more or less tangy spice.
  • If you don’t have a baking sheet, a pizza stone preheated in the oven can be used for a crisper crust.
