  • Total Time: 32 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 900 g apples (whole weight) (600 g peeled and cored weight)
  • 40 g caster sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch mixed spice
  • Pinch table salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare Apples: Peel and core 900 grams of apples, then cut them into uniform cubes. After preparation, you should have approximately 600 grams of peeled and cored apple pieces ready for cooking.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Place the prepared apple cubes into a pan. Add 40 grams of caster sugar, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, a pinch of mixed spice, a pinch of table salt, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to the pan with the apples.
  3. Initial Cooking: Cook the mixture over medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly to combine all the ingredients thoroughly and start dissolving the sugar.
  4. Simmer: Lower the heat to medium-low and cover the pan partially with a lid. Let the apples stew for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the apples reach your desired soft consistency.

Notes

  • Use tart apple varieties like Granny Smith, Pink Lady, or Braeburn for a balanced sweetness and structure.
  • Adjust sugar quantity according to your taste and apple sweetness.
  • Serve warm with yogurt, oatmeal, pancakes, or as a dessert topping.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • You can add a splash of water if the pan becomes too dry during stewing.
