This Crock Pot Steak and Potatoes recipe offers an easy, hands-off way to enjoy tender sirloin steak cooked slowly with baby potatoes in a flavorful broth. Perfect for a comforting lunch or dinner, this dish combines savory onion soup mix and brown gravy mix, resulting in rich, hearty flavors with minimal prep and a convenient slow cooker method.

  • Total Time: 7 hours 5 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Meat

  • 2 pounds top sirloin steak or round steak

Seasonings and Mixes

  • 0.87 ounce brown gravy mix (1 packet)
  • 1 ounce onion soup mix (1 envelope)

Vegetables

  • 1 pound baby potatoes

Liquids and Fats

  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crockpot: Spray the inside of your crockpot with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Layer the Ingredients: Place the sirloin steak into the slow cooker base. Add the baby potatoes evenly on top and pour in the cup of beef broth to keep the ingredients moist during cooking.
  3. Add Seasonings and Butter: Sprinkle the onion soup mix and brown gravy packet evenly over the steak and potatoes. Top everything with 2 tablespoons of butter to add richness to the dish.
  4. Cook: Cover the slow cooker with its lid and cook on low for 7-8 hours, or alternatively, cook on high for 3-4 hours, until the steak is tender and potatoes are cooked through.

Notes

  • You can substitute sirloin steak with cube steak, ribeye steak, flat iron steak, or your preferred cut.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Freezing is not recommended as the steak may become tough and potatoes mushy upon reheating.
  • To reheat, warm the dish in a pot over medium heat on the stovetop until hot throughout.
