This Cranberry Jalapeno Cream Cheese Dip combines tart cranberries with spicy jalapeno and creamy cheese for a vibrant, flavorful appetizer that’s perfect for parties and gatherings. Its refreshing balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors makes it an irresistible dip to enjoy with crackers or fresh vegetables.

  • Total Time: 2 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: 10 servings

Ingredients

Dip Ingredients

  • 6 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 small jalapeno pepper (seeded, with membranes removed)
  • 1 green onion (scallion) (white and part of green top, trimmed)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened at room temperature)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cranberries: Rinse cranberries thoroughly, discard any mushy or damaged ones, and pat dry with a towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Pulse Cranberries: Place the cleaned cranberries into a blender or food processor and pulse a few times until they break into smaller, coarse pieces.
  3. Add Flavorings: Add the seeded jalapeno pepper, trimmed green onion, granulated sugar, fresh lime juice, and sea salt to the cranberries. Pulse the mixture until finely chopped and evenly combined, scraping down the sides as needed.
  4. Whip Cream Cheese: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to whip the softened cream cheese until it becomes smooth and creamy.
  5. Combine Mixtures: Spoon the cranberry relish mixture into the whipped cream cheese. Mix thoroughly until well blended into a creamy dip.
  6. Chill and Serve: Cover the dip and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to meld. The taste improves the longer it sits. Before serving, taste the dip and add additional sugar if desired for sweetness balance.

Notes

  • For less heat, remove all seeds and membranes from the jalapeno carefully or reduce jalapeno quantity.
  • This dip can be prepared a day ahead to enhance flavor development.
  • Serve with assorted crackers, tortilla chips, or raw vegetables for a festive appetizer.
  • Softening cream cheese to room temperature ensures a smooth, easy-to-mix texture.
  • If a smoother texture is desired, process the cranberry mixture longer before mixing.
