Ingredients
Meat and Seasonings
- 500g (1 pound) ground chicken
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
Tortillas
- 8 small flour tortillas
- vegetable oil, for cooking
Toppings
- ½ head romaine lettuce, chopped
- ⅓ cup Caesar dressing
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 tablespoons bacon bits
- ½ cup croutons, lightly crushed
Instructions
- Season the chicken: Add the ground chicken to a bowl. Season with garlic powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently until all the spices are evenly incorporated.
- Spread chicken on tortillas: Take each small flour tortilla and spread a thin, even layer of the seasoned ground chicken on one side, pressing it firmly and extending almost all the way to the edges to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
- Heat the skillet: Place a skillet over medium-high heat and add a small amount of vegetable oil to coat the surface, preparing it for cooking the chicken-topped tortillas.
- Cook the chicken side: Place a tortilla, chicken-side down, onto the hot skillet. Using a spatula, press down gently to smash the chicken and help it cook evenly. Cook for about 3 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and has turned golden brown.
- Cook the tortilla side: Flip the tortilla over and cook the plain side for an additional 1 to 2 minutes until it becomes crisp and lightly golden, creating a crunchy taco shell.
- Toss the Caesar lettuce: While the tortillas cook, toss the chopped romaine lettuce with the Caesar dressing in a bowl until all the leaves are evenly coated.
- Assemble the tacos: Remove the cooked chicken tortillas from the skillet. Top each with a generous amount of the dressed Caesar lettuce, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese, bacon bits, and crushed croutons for added texture and flavor.
- Serve immediately: Fold the tacos carefully and serve them hot and crispy, enjoying the contrast of crunchy chicken and fresh salad toppings.
Notes
- Use a thin layer of chicken on the tortillas to ensure it cooks evenly and crisps properly without becoming doughy.
- Small flour tortillas are ideal, but low-carb tortillas can be used as a lighter alternative.
- For extra flavor, consider adding lemon zest, additional black pepper, or extra crushed croutons on top before serving.
