A vibrant and nutritious Blue Smoothie Bowl made with frozen bananas, blue spirulina or butterfly pea flower powder, and topped with fresh berries, mango, and seeds. Creamy, naturally sweet, and perfect for a quick breakfast or snack, this smoothie bowl is both visually stunning and packed with healthy superfoods.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 large serving or 2 small servings

Ingredients

Smoothie Base

  • 2-3 frozen ripe bananas, cut into chunks
  • ½ cup oat milk (or any non-dairy milk)
  • 1-2 tsp blue spirulina or butterfly pea flower powder

Toppings

  • Fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries)
  • Mango, diced
  • Raw pumpkin seeds
  • Hemp seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare Equipment and Ingredients. Gather your blender or alternative blending device and ensure frozen bananas are cut into chunks for easier blending.
  2. Load Blender. Add ½ cup oat milk into the blender container first, followed by 1-2 teaspoons of blue spirulina or butterfly pea flower powder, then the frozen banana chunks and any additional fruit you like.
  3. Blend the Mixture. Start blending at a low speed and gradually increase to high. Use a tamper if available to push the thick mixture down, or stop to scrape down the sides as needed. Add extra liquid sparingly if the mixture is too thick to blend smoothly.
  4. Serve and Decorate. Once smooth and creamy, pour the mixture into a bowl and decorate with fresh berries, diced mango, raw pumpkin seeds, and hemp seeds for added texture and nutrition.
  5. Storage Instructions. This recipe serves one large or two small portions. Leftover smoothie bowls can be frozen in a freezer-safe container. To enjoy later, defrost fully or partially and blend with a little oat milk or coconut water to revive the texture for another smoothie or smoothie bowl.

Notes

  • You do not need a high-powered Vitamix blender; food processors or bullet blenders work well too.
  • If blending is difficult, let frozen fruit thaw slightly or cut fruit into smaller pieces before blending.
  • Add liquid gradually to avoid overly thin smoothie consistency.
  • The bowl also works well with alternative non-dairy milks such as almond or coconut milk.
  • Fresh toppings add texture and additional nutrients, but feel free to customize based on preference.
