This hearty Baked Ravioli recipe combines tender cheese ravioli with a savory ground beef and marinara sauce, layered with melted Monterey Jack, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses. Baked to bubbly perfection, it makes a comforting and easy one-dish Italian-inspired meal perfect for family dinners.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Meat Sauce

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. Italian seasoning
  • 24 oz. plain marinara sauce
  • Kosher salt and fresh black pepper, to taste

Ravioli and Cheese Layers

  • 20 oz. frozen cheese ravioli, no need to thaw out
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Garnish

  • Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the dish.
  2. Cook Beef: In a large deep skillet or sauté pan over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef while stirring and breaking it up until fully browned and no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
  3. Add Seasonings: Stir in minced garlic and Italian seasoning, then lightly season the meat mixture with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly until fragrant.
  4. Simmer Sauce: Pour in the marinara sauce and bring to a simmer on the stovetop. Once simmering, remove the pan from heat.
  5. Assemble Layers: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish to help ravioli stick. Arrange half of the frozen ravioli (they can overlap) over the sauce. Top with half the sauce mixture and then half of both Monterey Jack and mozzarella cheese. Repeat with remaining ravioli, sauce, and cheeses. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese evenly on top.
  6. Bake: Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until the ravioli are tender and the dish is bubbling. If using refrigerated ravioli, start checking at 25 minutes for doneness.
  7. Serve: Remove from oven and garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious baked ravioli.

Notes

  • There is no need to thaw frozen ravioli before assembling the dish, which saves prep time.
  • Use a baking dish size of 9×13 inches for even cooking and layering.
  • Tightly covering the dish with foil keeps the ravioli moist as they bake.
  • Feel free to substitute ground turkey or Italian sausage for ground beef for a different flavor.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
