Ingredients
Crust Ingredients
- 1 medium sweet potato, peeled
- 2/3 cup rolled oats
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- a pinch of garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Prepare the Mixture: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a food processor, pulse the peeled sweet potato and rolled oats until they form a very fine consistency. Add the egg, garlic powder, and salt, then pulse again until the mixture resembles a loose dough or thick batter.
- Shape the Crust: Transfer the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet or a round pizza pan. Use your hands to press and shape the dough into crusts about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. You can make two smaller crusts for more crispy edges or one larger crust depending on your preference.
- Bake the Crust: Bake the crust(s) in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the top feels dry to the touch. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Then invert the crust onto the pan with the dry side down. Gently peel off the parchment paper from the top layer.
- Finish Baking for Crispiness: Brush the exposed top of the crust with olive oil and bake again for an additional 5-10 minutes to achieve a nice, crispy texture on the top surface.
- Add Toppings and Bake: Once the crust is ready, add your favorite pizza toppings and return the pizza to the oven to melt any cheese or warm the toppings thoroughly. Then serve and enjoy your wholesome sweet potato pizza.
