Ingredients
¼ cup heavy cream (for ganache)
1 tsp light corn syrup
½ cup white chocolate chips
Few drops blue gel food colouring
Blue sanding sugar
White sanding sugar
1½ cups whole milk
½ cup heavy cream (for hot chocolate)
4 oz white chocolate, finely chopped
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Sweetened whipped cream or mini marshmallows (for topping)
Snowflake sprinkles
Blue sanding sugar (for topping)
White nonpareils
Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, heat ¼ cup cream and corn syrup until it begins to simmer. Pour over white chocolate chips, let sit 5 minutes, then stir until smooth. Add blue gel colouring and mix. Let cool slightly.
- Dip mug rims into ganache, then into sanding sugar. Refrigerate to set.
- In a medium saucepan, combine milk, ½ cup cream, chopped white chocolate, vanilla, and salt. Heat over medium, whisking constantly until chocolate is melted and mixture is steaming. Do not boil.
- Pour hot chocolate into prepared mugs.
- Top with whipped cream or marshmallows. Decorate with snowflake sprinkles, blue sanding sugar, white nonpareils, and powdered sugar if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- You can skip the rim decoration for a simpler version.
- Use only milk if you prefer a lighter drink without cream.
