A refreshing and vibrant Strawberry Green Tea recipe that combines fresh strawberry puree with steeped green tea, sweetened lightly with brown sugar or maple syrup. Perfect for a quick, healthy beverage ready in just 10 minutes, this drink offers a balanced blend of fruity sweetness and the subtle earthiness of green tea, served chilled over ice and garnished with fresh strawberries.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

Tea Base

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 green tea bags
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (or honey, maple syrup to taste)

Strawberry Puree

  • 1/2 cup chopped strawberries

Additional Ingredients

  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • Fresh strawberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberries: Wash and hull the fresh strawberries. Reserve a few whole strawberries for garnish if desired. Place the remaining chopped strawberries into a blender and puree until smooth. Set the strawberry puree aside.
  2. Make the green tea: Boil 2 cups of water. Pour the boiling water over the 2 green tea bags in a heat-resistant glass jar or teapot. Let the tea steep for 2-3 minutes to extract flavor. While the tea is still hot, stir in 2 tablespoons of brown sugar or maple syrup to taste; this step can be skipped for an unsweetened version. After sweetening, allow the tea to cool to room temperature, or speed up the cooling by refrigerating it.
  3. Mix the drink: Pour the chilled strawberry puree into a glass. Add 1 cup of ice cubes on top. Slowly pour the cooled green tea over the ice cubes and strawberry puree. Stir well to combine all the flavors evenly.
  4. Serve: Garnish the drink with the reserved fresh strawberries or add a lemon slice for an extra zesty touch. Serve immediately and enjoy this refreshing, fruity green tea.

Notes

  • You can substitute brown sugar with honey or maple syrup depending on your preference.
  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
  • For a more intense tea flavor, use loose-leaf green tea (about 2 tablespoons) instead of tea bags.
  • This recipe can be adjusted to be unsweetened or less sweet as desired.
  • To make it vegan, ensure the sweetener used is plant-based like maple syrup or brown sugar.
  • Chilling the tea beforehand is essential to prevent dilution from melting ice.
