Ingredients
Vegetables
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 1/3 cup fresh chives, diced (plus additional for serving)
Dairy
- 16 oz full-fat sour cream
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
Spices & Seasonings
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Sauté the onions: Melt the unsalted butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the diced yellow onion along with a sprinkle of salt, and sauté until the onions are lightly golden and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and allow the onions to cool slightly.
- Combine the dip ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the full-fat sour cream, sautéed onions, onion powder, garlic powder, dried parsley, kosher salt, Worcestershire sauce, and diced fresh chives. Mix thoroughly to incorporate all ingredients evenly.
- Chill and serve: For the best flavor, let the dip rest in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes so the flavors meld together. Serve chilled or at room temperature, garnished with additional chopped chives if desired.
Notes
- Use full-fat sour cream for the creamiest texture and richest flavor.
- Sautéing the onions mellows their sharpness and adds depth of flavor.
- Letting the dip rest refrigerated enhances the flavor development.
- Great served with potato chips, fresh vegetables, or crackers.
- Adjust salt to taste, especially if your Worcestershire sauce is salty.
