Ingredients
Donut Batter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 8 Oreos, crushed
White Chocolate Glaze
- 1/4 cup white chocolate
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp whole milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 Oreos, crushed (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature by the time the batter is ready.
- Prepare Donut Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix sour cream, beaten egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in the 8 crushed Oreos carefully to maintain some texture.
- Fill Donut Pan: Transfer the batter into a ziplock bag, squeezing out any air. Cut a small corner off the bag to use as a piping bag. Spray a donut pan with non-stick spray and pipe the batter evenly into the donut molds, or spoon the batter in. The recipe should yield enough batter for 6 donuts.
- Bake Donuts: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick or skewer; it should come out clean when the donuts are fully baked. Remove from oven and carefully remove donuts from the pan, then cool on a wire rack.
- Prepare White Chocolate Glaze: In a small bowl, melt the white chocolate in the microwave in 15-second bursts, stirring between each interval until smooth. Whisk in the powdered sugar, whole milk, and vanilla extract until you get a smooth, glossy glaze.
- Glaze and Decorate: Dip each cooled donut into the white chocolate glaze, ensuring an even coating. Sprinkle the remaining 4 crushed Oreos over the glazed donuts while still wet so the topping sticks.
- Set Glaze: Allow the donuts to rest at room temperature for 30 minutes so the glaze can set completely before serving.
Notes
- Ensure not to overmix the batter to keep the donuts light and fluffy.
- Use a piping bag or ziplock bag for easier and more even distribution of batter in the donut pan.
- You can substitute whole milk with any milk alternative if preferred.
- Store the donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days for best freshness.
- If you do not have a donut pan, you can bake the batter in a muffin pan for thicker, muffin-style treats.
