One-Skillet Smoky Honey Chili Beef is a quick, hearty, and flavor-packed dish combining ground beef, rice, vegetables, and a smoky-sweet chili sauce. Ready in 30 minutes, it’s perfect for weeknight dinners, meal prep, or casual family meals.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 cup uncooked jasmine or long-grain rice

2 cups beef broth

1 medium onion, diced

1 red bell pepper, diced

3 garlic cloves, minced

2 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons tomato paste

2 teaspoons smoked paprika

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion, red bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Stir in smoked paprika, chili powder, cumin, onion powder, cayenne (if using), and tomato paste. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add the uncooked rice, stirring to coat with the spice mixture.
  5. Pour in beef broth, honey, and soy sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15–20 minutes, until rice is tender and liquid absorbed.
  6. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes. Fluff rice with a fork and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use brown rice for a heartier option (increase liquid and cooking time).
  • Swap ground beef with chicken, turkey, or plant-based protein.
  • Add corn, zucchini, or spinach for extra nutrition.
  • Top with shredded cheese, avocado slices, or fresh cilantro.
  • Adjust spice level with more cayenne or fresh jalapeños.
