Ingredients
Strawberry Sauce Ingredients:
- 1 lb Strawberries, rinsed, hulled, and thickly sliced
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice, from 1/2 lemon
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. This combination will create the perfect balance of sweetness and tang.
- Heat Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally. As the mixture heats, the strawberries will release their juice naturally without needing to be mashed.
- Simmer to Thicken: Reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer gently for 20 to 23 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cook until the sauce has thickened to your liking.
- Cool the Sauce: Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the strawberry sauce to cool to room temperature. Remember, the sauce will thicken further as it cools and even more so when refrigerated.
Notes
- For a chunkier sauce, use fresh, thickly sliced strawberries as outlined.
- If you prefer a smoother sauce, mash the strawberries slightly before cooking.
- The sauce will keep in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Use lemon juice to balance sweetness and enhance strawberry flavor.
- This sauce is ideal served warm or cold over desserts like ice cream, pancakes, or cheesecake.
