  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: undefined

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

45 medium potatoes, thinly sliced (¼-inch thick)

1 tbsp olive oil

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

½ cup beef broth

¼ cup milk (optional)

1 tsp Italian seasoning

½ tsp paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish and thinly slice potatoes.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef, season with Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper, and cook until browned.
  4. Layer half of the potatoes in the baking dish. Spread half of the beef mixture on top. Sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese.
  5. Repeat the layers, then pour beef broth (and milk, if using) evenly over the casserole.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 35–40 minutes.
  7. Remove foil, top with Parmesan cheese, and bake uncovered for 10 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
  8. Let rest 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • Add heavy cream instead of milk for a richer sauce.
  • Swap cheddar for mozzarella, pepper jack, or Colby Jack for different flavors.
  • Mix in diced bell peppers, mushrooms, or spinach for added veggies.
  • Try ground turkey, chicken, or sausage instead of beef.
  • Use sweet potatoes for a slightly sweeter variation.
