This refreshing hibiscus mocktail is a vibrant, tangy, and naturally sweet drink made with dried hibiscus flowers, pineapple, ginger, and orange. Lightly simmered to infuse flavors and sweetened with honey, it’s perfect for a cooling beverage on a warm day or a festive, alcohol-free option for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

For the Hibiscus Mocktail

  • 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers, lightly rinsed
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks with juice
  • 3-inch piece of ginger, peeled
  • 1 orange, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 2 tablespoons honey (adjust to taste)
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. Rinse Hibiscus Flowers: Quickly soak the dried hibiscus flowers in water and gently rinse them to remove any dirt or dust.
  2. Boil Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat.
  3. Simmer Mixture: Once boiling, add the rinsed hibiscus flowers, peeled ginger, pineapple chunks with juice, peeled orange pieces, and any orange zest you have. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the mixture simmer gently for 30 minutes to fully infuse the flavors.
  4. Strain and Sweeten: Remove the saucepan from heat and allow it to cool slightly. Strain the liquid into a pitcher or bowl, discarding the solids. Stir in 2 tablespoons of honey and adjust sweetness to your preference.
  5. Serve: Pour the hibiscus mocktail over ice, garnish with a slice of orange if desired, and enjoy chilled.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey according to your taste.
  • If you prefer a chilled drink quickly, refrigerate the strained liquid for 1-2 hours before serving.
  • Fresh ginger can be substituted with ground ginger, but the flavor may be less vibrant.
  • For a sparkling version, top the mocktail with soda water before serving.
