These easy homemade ginger shots are made with fresh ginger, turmeric, citrus juice, and a hint of cayenne. They’re a potent immune-boosting drink packed with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits, ready in just 20 minutes with a blender or juicer.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

1 orange, peeled

3 lemons, peeled

1/2 lb fresh ginger, chopped (no need to peel)

1 medium root turmeric, chopped

Pinch of cayenne pepper

1/2 cup coconut water or regular water

Instructions

  1. Wash all produce thoroughly.
  2. Peel the orange and lemons. Chop the ginger and turmeric into chunks.
  3. If using a juicer, add all ingredients and juice them.
  4. If using a blender, combine orange, lemon, ginger, turmeric, cayenne, and water. Blend until smooth.
  5. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, nut milk bag, or cheesecloth to remove pulp.
  6. Pour the juice into small bottles or a large container and store in the fridge. Shake before drinking.

Notes

  • Use black pepper with turmeric to enhance absorption.
  • Sweeten with fruit like pineapple or a little maple syrup if desired.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months (use an ice cube tray for portioning).
  • Add to smoothies or mix with sparkling water if too strong.
  • Use a fine strainer for a smoother shot or consume with pulp for added fiber.
