Ingredients
Avocado
- 2 Avocados (Just ripe – See Notes)
Breading Mixture
- 1/4 Cup Panko Breadcrumbs
- 2 Tbsp Plain Breadcrumbs
- Sea Salt (To Taste)
- Ground Black Pepper (To Taste)
- 1/4 Tsp Red Pepper Flakes (Optional)
- 1/2 Tsp Paprika
- 1/8 Tsp Chili Powder
- 1/4 Tsp Garlic Powder
Instructions
- Prepare the Avocado: Use a sharp knife or avocado slicer to cut each avocado in half evenly. Carefully remove the seed, then use a spoon to scoop out each half, removing the skin and keeping the avocado slice intact. Sprinkle each slice with sea salt and ground black pepper to taste.
- Make the Breading Mixture: In a small plate or bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, plain breadcrumbs, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, red pepper flakes (if using), sea salt, and ground black pepper. Mix well to ensure even distribution of spices.
- Coat the Avocado Slices: Dip each avocado slice one at a time into the breadcrumb mixture. Use your hands to thoroughly coat the avocado slices with the breading, ensuring they are evenly covered on all sides for maximum crispiness.
- Air Fry the Avocados: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) if desired. Place the coated avocado slices in an even layer inside the air fryer basket. Lightly mist them with oil to help achieve a golden crisp. Air fry for 5-7 minutes until the avocado slices are warm, crispy, and golden brown.
- Serve: Use tongs to carefully remove the crispy avocado slices from the air fryer. Serve warm and enjoy as a tasty snack or appetizer.
Notes
- Use just ripe avocados for best results—too soft and they will be mushy, too firm and they won’t have the creamy texture desired.
- Preheating the air fryer is optional but helps achieve a crunchier coating.
- You can adjust the spices in the breadcrumb mix to your preference, adding more or less heat as desired.
- Lightly misting the avocado slices with oil before air frying enhances the crispiness without adding much fat.
