Ingredients
Clam Dip Ingredients
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1 can (6.5 ounces) minced clams, drained, juice reserved
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice (about ½ of a small lemon)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 green onions, finely chopped, plus more for garnish
- Tabasco sauce, to taste (optional)
Instructions
- Stir cream cheese with clam juice: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with 1 tablespoon of the reserved clam juice. Stir thoroughly until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy, ensuring there are no lumps.
- Mix lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce: Add the lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce to the cream cheese mixture. Stir well until these are evenly incorporated, giving the dip a tangy and savory flavor base.
- Fold in green onions and clams: Gently fold in the finely chopped green onions, reserving a small portion for garnish, along with the minced clams. If the mixture feels too thick, gradually add more reserved clam juice, about 1 tablespoon at a time, to reach your preferred consistency.
- Add Tabasco: Add a few dashes of Tabasco sauce according to your spice preference, mixing well to distribute the heat and flavor throughout the dip.
- Transfer and garnish: Spoon the prepared dip into a serving bowl. Garnish the top with the reserved chopped green onions and a light drizzle of Tabasco sauce, if desired, to add an appealing visual and extra kick.
- Serve or refrigerate: Serve the clam dip immediately with chips or crackers for dipping. Alternatively, cover and refrigerate for up to 2 days to let the flavors meld before serving.
Notes
- If the dip is too thick, use extra reserved clam juice to thin it to your liking.
- For a spicier kick, add more Tabasco or try other hot sauces.
- Best served chilled; refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving for optimal flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Great accompaniment to crackers, chips, or fresh vegetable sticks.
