This twist on the classic French blanquette brings the creamy, delicate sauce you love, with a hint of warmth and depth from sweet paprika. It’s a simple, comforting dish that comes together in just 30 minutes — perfect for any night of the week

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

4 chicken breasts, cut into large chunks

200g tomato sauce

1 garlic clove, peeled and finely chopped

1 yellow onion, peeled and finely chopped

10cl light cream

50g butter

Sweet paprika (to taste)

Salt, to taste

Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Peel and finely chop the garlic and onion. Cut the chicken breasts into large chunks.

  2. Cook the Chicken: Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the chicken, onion, and garlic. Sauté for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is browned on all sides.

  3. Add Paprika and Sauces: Sprinkle the sweet paprika over the chicken, then pour in the tomato sauce and light cream. Stir to combine everything and let it simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and the flavors to blend.

  4. Season: Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and black pepper as needed.

  5. Serve: Serve the blanquette with your choice of rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Add Mushrooms: For extra flavor, add sliced mushrooms when cooking the chicken. They will absorb the sauce and add an earthy note.

  • Vegetarian Option: Swap the chicken for tofu or hearty vegetables like cauliflower and potatoes for a vegetarian version.

  • Spice Level: If you prefer more heat, use regular paprika instead of sweet paprika for a spicier kick
