A deliciously sweet and creamy Brown Sugar Oat Milk Latte that combines the rich flavors of homemade brown sugar syrup with smooth oat milk and a bold double shot of espresso. Perfect for a cozy morning or an afternoon pick-me-up, this latte can be enjoyed iced or hot according to your preference.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients

Brown Sugar Syrup

  • 1 cup Brown Sugar (dark or light)
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (optional)
  • Pinch of Kosher Salt

Latte

  • 1 Double Shot Espresso
  • 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar Syrup (or to preference)
  • 1/2 cup Oat Milk
  • Ice Cubes (optional, for iced latte)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Brown Sugar Syrup: In a pan, combine the brown sugar, water, vanilla extract, and a pinch of kosher salt. Whisk the mixture to ensure all ingredients are well blended.
  2. Simmer the Syrup: Bring the mixture to a slight boil over medium heat, then immediately reduce to a simmer. Whisk occasionally for about 5 minutes until the sugar fully dissolves. Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
  3. Build the Latte: Add the desired amount of brown sugar syrup (approximately 1 tablespoon or to taste) to the bottom of your drinking glass. Fill the glass with ice cubes if making an iced latte.
  4. Add Oat Milk: Pour the cold oat milk over the ice cubes. For a hot latte, omit the ice and steam the oat milk before adding.
  5. Prepare the Espresso: Brew a double shot of espresso using your preferred method.
  6. Combine and Serve: Pour the espresso over the oat milk and syrup mixture. Stir well to combine all flavors evenly. Adjust sweetness if necessary and enjoy your latte!

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of brown sugar syrup to suit your desired sweetness level.
  • For a vegan and dairy-free option, ensure your oat milk is unsweetened and free from additives.
  • Vanilla extract is optional but adds an extra depth of flavor to the syrup.
  • Use freshly brewed espresso for the best taste and aroma.
  • Store any leftover brown sugar syrup in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  • To make this latte hot, steam the oat milk and skip the ice cubes.
