Ingredients
Brown Sugar Syrup
- 1 cup Brown Sugar (dark or light)
- 1 cup Water
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (optional)
- Pinch of Kosher Salt
Latte
- 1 Double Shot Espresso
- 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar Syrup (or to preference)
- 1/2 cup Oat Milk
- Ice Cubes (optional, for iced latte)
Instructions
- Prepare the Brown Sugar Syrup: In a pan, combine the brown sugar, water, vanilla extract, and a pinch of kosher salt. Whisk the mixture to ensure all ingredients are well blended.
- Simmer the Syrup: Bring the mixture to a slight boil over medium heat, then immediately reduce to a simmer. Whisk occasionally for about 5 minutes until the sugar fully dissolves. Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
- Build the Latte: Add the desired amount of brown sugar syrup (approximately 1 tablespoon or to taste) to the bottom of your drinking glass. Fill the glass with ice cubes if making an iced latte.
- Add Oat Milk: Pour the cold oat milk over the ice cubes. For a hot latte, omit the ice and steam the oat milk before adding.
- Prepare the Espresso: Brew a double shot of espresso using your preferred method.
- Combine and Serve: Pour the espresso over the oat milk and syrup mixture. Stir well to combine all flavors evenly. Adjust sweetness if necessary and enjoy your latte!
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of brown sugar syrup to suit your desired sweetness level.
- For a vegan and dairy-free option, ensure your oat milk is unsweetened and free from additives.
- Vanilla extract is optional but adds an extra depth of flavor to the syrup.
- Use freshly brewed espresso for the best taste and aroma.
- Store any leftover brown sugar syrup in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
- To make this latte hot, steam the oat milk and skip the ice cubes.
