This 10-Minute Garlic Parmesan Shrimp recipe is a quick and flavorful dish featuring jumbo shrimp grilled to perfection and tossed in a zesty garlic, lemon, and Parmesan sauce. Perfect for a light dinner or impressive appetizer, it combines bold Mediterranean-inspired flavors with ease of preparation.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Shrimp and Seasoning

  • 1 pound jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Red pepper flakes, to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil, for drizzling and grilling

Sauce

  • 4 large garlic cloves, crushed or minced
  • 1/2 cup chopped parsley (optional)
  • 1 lemon, zested and juiced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

  1. Season the shrimp. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and place them in a bowl. Season generously with kosher salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes according to your heat preference. Drizzle olive oil over the shrimp and toss well to ensure each piece is well-coated with oil and seasonings.
  2. Prepare the sauce. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together minced garlic, chopped parsley if using, lemon zest and juice, 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil, and dried oregano. Lightly season this mixture with salt, black pepper, and additional red pepper flakes to taste, creating a bright and aromatic dressing for the shrimp.
  3. Grill the shrimp. Preheat a grill or indoor griddle over medium-high heat and lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking. Place the shrimp on the grill and cook them for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn opaque and pink, signaling they are just cooked through—usually about 5 minutes total, depending on shrimp size.
  4. Finish and serve. Remove the shrimp immediately from the heat to avoid overcooking. Toss the grilled shrimp in the prepared garlic and lemon sauce, then sprinkle with the 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese and toss again to evenly coat. Transfer the shrimp to a serving dish and serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • Use peeled and deveined jumbo shrimp for best texture and convenience.
  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes for your preferred spice level.
  • Fresh parsley is optional but adds a lovely color and freshness to the dish.
  • Ensure the grill or griddle is hot and well-oiled to prevent shrimp from sticking and tearing.
  • Serve immediately for best taste and texture, as shrimp can become rubbery if left to sit too long.
